Our Church
The Mar Thoma Congregation of Albany, NY is an independent congregation approved by the Diocese of North America and Europe from Jan 1st, 2021. At present, we have over 12 active families residing in the Capital Region.
The Mar Thoma Congregation of Albany, NY, is a vibrant community rooted in the traditions of the Saint Thomas Christians. It was the abundant blessings and mercy of our Almighty Lord, Mar Thoma Congregation of Albany originated in the year 2021. It started as a small prayer group in the Albany Capital Region of the New York state. It was through the great efforts of Rev. Santhosh Joseph and many others in this area that has made this parish a reality today.
This prayer group formed an interim-committee on Dec. 27th, 2020 and authorized the committee to submit a formal application to the Diocesan Bishop Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos to form a congregation under St. James Mar Thoma Church, Hillburn, NY. Followed by the recommendation of the diocesan bishop our parish was approved by the Episcopal synod effective on Jan 1st, 2021.
